I am expecting to graduate from Korea University with B.A.  Degree in Philosophy in February 1987.  As I said above,  I would study business administration concentrated on management.  I think that management and English study in the United States will be help to my managing of companies.  I wish that through your management program I will become a competent manager.

During every college vacation, I have worked in the Department of Business of Mun Hwa Paper Co., Ltd.  While working there,  I concluded that the scientific basis of business management in Korea is still insufficient and underdeveloped in comparison with other countries, and I realized through first-hand experience that marketing is a crucial part of business management.  If possible, I want to study marketing too.  This work experience strengthened my belief that I need to continue my study in order to achieve my life goal.

I should one day succeed to the leading management position in Mun Hwa Paper Co., Ltd.  This is the goal which I have set for myself :  I am confident of my ability to assume such a position, but I also recognize that to succeed in such an endeavor, and to make an important contribution to my country, I need a first-rate education and an understanding and appreciation of society in the United States.  In addition, the field of business management in the United States particularly appeals to me because the United States not only has abundant experience in business management but has a tradition of management based on pragmatism, rationalism and democracy.

Finally, I would like to introduce briefly Mun Hwa Group to you.  Since the company was founded, Mun Hwa Group has grown to be the most comprehensive and largest diversified paper manufacturer in Korea.  This is growth in excellence, not only in facilities but in products of quality.  The Mun Hwa Group of companies has devoted itself the ideal of making the utmost contribution to the development of country as well as the companies.  My grandfather also have run Nun Hwa Construction Group having 5 large companies affiliated.

After graduation from your school, I will strive to achieve my goal of being a competent leader combining practical management skills with theory.  The setting for my life's work, so to speak, will be Mun Hwa Group.

STATEMENT

Ever since my childhood I have always kept this goal my mind to become a true leader of this society.  That is why I have tried to be actively involved in different activities in order to learn, build and prepare my-self to achieve my goal. ll my achievements were aimed at this goal and helped me greatly in building a positive attitude toward my own life.

The first personal achievement I would like to mention is the achievement I've gained while engaging in an extracurricular activity during my college life.  From 1983 to 1985 I had been involved in working for The Granite Tower, the English newspaper of Munhwa University reporter and during the three years I've devoted myself to the activities of the Granite Tower.

During the first semester as a cub-reporter, I've engaged in a training session that included various activities.  After finishing the training sessions I've become a feature reporter.  While covering and writing stories for the feature section of the newspaper I had the opportunity to interview government authorities, diplomats and other distinguished persons of the society.  Such opportunities extended my knowledge and strengthened my perspectives concerning many different fields.  I become the managing editor of the Granite Tower in December 1985.  I strove to find desirable ways to improve the quality and organization of the Granite Tower and did my best to create a harmonious working atmosphere.  At that time I was responsible as managing editor, to maximize the efficiency of the organization and its potentials with a limited annual budget of 50,000,000(US$ 60,240).  I exerted my utmost in trying to minimize the spending costs while raising funds for a better editing procedure of the newspaper.  As a result, the needed amount of money was raised and computerizing the whole editing procedure become a reality for the Granite Tower.

My personal achievements I've gained while engaging in an extra - curricular activity not only brought great meaning to my college life but also gave me the opportunity to strengthen my sense of responsibility and leadership.  It also enhanced my self - confidence and ultimate goal of becoming a true leader of this society.  Opening a new era for the Granite Tower, concerning the deiting procedure, is an achievement that I will treasure for a long time.

MOTI is a company that supplies Korean firms with construction materials.  I worked for MOTI from December 1984 to February, 1986.  My major responsibility was to analyze numerous manufacture's catalog files according to the company's needs.  I also classified and analyzed the offer sheet files, purchase orders, copy forms and submittal datas.  During that time the company's work involved much research on my part.  I was very proud and satisfied with my performance and received praise from many directors of MOTI and other companies that I have associated efficiently by storing the price list and various materials, I have previously analyzed, into computer.  I also participated in quotation work and dealt with major tasks such as the quotation work for Hyundai Department store's heating pipe, and Pohang Iron Manufacture's all - fusion refractories.

Through my working experience I learned a great deal about the business environment and built a strong conviction to become a successful manager of a firm.  Although I had a short period of working experience, it was a chance for me to discover my capability of manager.  I could also strengthen my sense of responsibility and originality which I think are important prerequisities to successfully carry out advanced studies and business affairs.

I would strengthen my studies in business administration with a very intensive study into finance.  Especially I want to study at your MBA program which offers an excellent curriculum.

After equipping myself with practical experiences and competence of my theoretical studies in your school, I hope to contribute more meaningfully to the development in the area of business in Korea.
